What We Offer

MAD Books is an MBE-certified children’s publishing and education company that partners with schools, after-school programs, and other CBO’s to deliver high quality children’s books and creative literacy programs.

As the creator of the Marvin’s First Day children’s book series, our Founder, Malcolm A. Dill, M.A.T designs programs ranging from two hour custom author visits, to twelve week immersive youth literacy workshops.

MAD Book’s mission is to inspire lifelong readers through creative literary experiences.

  • Interactive author visits that bring stories to life and inspire a love of reading. Students engage in live read-alouds, discussions about the writing process, and age-appropriate creative activities connected to Malcolm’s books.

  • MAD Books provides engaging, practical professional development experiences designed to help educators, afterschool staff, and youth development professionals create classrooms and programs where all children feel seen, supported, and inspired to learn.

    Drawing on nearly a decade of experience in education, special education, literacy instruction, and youth development, our workshops combine research-based strategies with real-world practices that participants can immediately implement with students.

  • Characters That C.A.N. (Care. Act. Narrate.) is a 12-week advocacy-through-storytelling & co-design program that empowers kids in grades 3-5 to explore real-world issues, create original characters, and publish professionally illustrated children's books.

    Through a unique co-design process, each student is paired with an experienced mentor artist, who helps transform the student's ideas into a fully illustrated picture book that is celebrated at a community book launch!
